BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Dani Hofer and Tayl’r Hollis swept the Louisiana Pitcher and Hitter of the Week honors respectively, it was announced by the Louisiana Sports Writer’s Association on Tuesday.

Hofer went 3-0 on the week, including a pair of shutout wins over South Carolina. The sophomore from Safety Harbor, Fla., recorded a one-hit shutout of the Gamecocks in the second game of a doubleheader on Friday before coming back to earn the series win with a complete-game two-hitter on Saturday.

In addition to her two wins over South Carolina, she recorded a complete-game win over Kentucky last Tuesday. In that game, she allowed four runs on seven hits. Those four runs came on a pair of two-run home runs from the Southeastern Conference’s second-leading home run hitting team, including one home run with two outs in the seventh inning with the game well in hand.

In 19 innings pitched, she allowed just 10 hits and four runs for a 1.47 earned run average on the week. In addition, she struck out 28, including 12 against the Wildcats, to average over 10.3 strikeouts per seven innings on the week. In the series finale against the Gamecocks, she allowed a leadoff infield single in the first inning before retiring the next 17 batters in a row until a sixth-inning error allowed just the second base runner of the game.

Hollis led LSU at the plate last week, going 7-for-14 for a .500 batting average. The junior from St. Amant posted a team-best four doubles and six RBIs, while recording a .786 slugging percentage. With a hit in all five Tiger games last week, she pushed her hitting streak to nine games, the longest current streak on the team.

In the second game of a doubleheader against Kentucky, she went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a pair of RBIs. In the first game against South Carolina, she knocked in LSU’s only run in a 2-1 loss. She came back to record a pair of RBIs in the second game of the series before adding an RBI in the series finale, one of two runs the Tigers scored in the 2-0 win.

This marks the first Louisiana Hitter of the Week honor for Hollis this year and the fourth Louisiana Pitcher of the Week honor for Hofer this season.
