BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team looks to continue its winning ways as it travels to take on Southeastern Conference Western foe No. 63 Alabama on Friday at 4 p.m. CT.

The Lady Tigers are fresh off three straight sweeps at home as they defeated Ole Miss, Southern and Mississippi State. They own an 11-7 overall record, 3-5 in the SEC.

“We played very well these last three matches. Alabama is a tough team. They won the SEC West last year,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “We just have to go in prepared to play and with the same attitude we did against Ole Miss and Mississippi State.”

Alabama is 5-12 overall, 1-7 in the SEC. They only managed to win one point in their last three matches on the road against top-ranked Georgia, Florida and South Carolina.

LSU leads the all-time series 23-9; however, Alabama won the last meeting between the two in Baton Rouge by a score of 5-2.

The Tide have a 4-5 record at home this season, and are led by lone senior Mari Muller. Sophomore Shelley Godwin and freshman Nicole Briceno occupy the No. 2 and No. 3 slot for Alabama.

The Lady Tigers are led by sophomores Megan Falcon and Mykala Hedberg. The duo are undefeated as a tandem winning the only six matches they have played as a pair.

Individually, Falcon is 27-2, undefeated in the No. 1 slot in dual play, 17-0, and ranked No. 3 in the country by ITA.

Hedberg has improved her overall record to 16-13, 10-7 in the No. 2 slot in dual play. Freshman Hannah Robinson is also a strong contributor as she boasts a 20-8 overall record, 7-1 in the SEC.

The team is headed down the final stretch of the regular season. After Alabama, they will travel to Auburn on Sunday, face Marshall at home on Wednesday, April 12, and then finish at Arkansas on Saturday, April 14.
