BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team hopes to complete a weekend sweep as they welcome the Mississippi State Bulldogs to W.T. “Dub” Robinson Tennis Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
The Lady Tigers (10-7, 2-5 Southeastern Conference) had a very nice outing Friday as they swept Ole Miss and Southern in a double dual match.
“We expect a tough match against Mississippi State. They are a very solid team,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “They lost a heartbreaker to Arkansas to the other day, but we expect them to bounce back and come after us.”
The Lady Bulldogs (5-9, 1-6 SEC) are coming off a tough loss as they fell to Arkansas by a 4-3 decision in Starkville, Miss.
The Lady Bulldogs are led by Martina Banikova. She owns an 8-3 record in the No. 1 slot.
Sophomore Megan Falcon continues to shine for the Lady Tigers as she has improved her record to 26-2, with 16 of her wins coming against ranked opponents.
LSU leads the all-time series with MSU, 21-8. This match marks the final home SEC match as the Lady Tigers will travel next weekend to face Alabama and Auburn.
