ATHENS, Ga. — Senior Hali Saucier and freshman Rachel Ware earned top-10 finishes in the women’s 1-meter Saturday, leading the LSU diving team on the second day of competition at the NCAA Zone B Regional at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.
Saucier, who won the 3-meter title on Friday, was the Lady Tigers’ highest scorer in the 1-meter with a fifth-place mark of 538.80. Saucier had already secured a berth to next weekend’s NCAA Championships with yesterday’s first-place finish.
Ware, the Southeastern Conference Freshman Diver of the Year, was the highest scoring of all freshmen with a sixth-place tally of 525.95. Five SEC divers finished in the top six as Kentucky’s Taryn Ignacio won the event (605.15).
Junior Paige Brown finished 21st in the morning prelims of the 1-meter (234.90). Brown competes in her strength of platform at 9 a.m. CST Sunday.
Ware was not the only LSU freshman to stand out on Saturday. Kalister Harmon was the Tigers’ highest scorer in the men’s 3-meter, taking 27th (265.40) in the prelims. Sophomore Nathan Schreiber was 31st (258.85), and senior Andrew Keane finished 38th (225.20).
