No. 10 Men's Tennis Goes for Fifth-Straight at USC

Men’s Tennis 13th in Latest ITA Rankings

BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team is listed at No. 13 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings released on Tuesday.

The Tigers (12-3, 4-2 SEC) won two out of their three matches last week. On Tuesday, LSU picked up its biggest win of the season by defeating No. 6-ranked Illinois, 4-3. The Tigers split its SEC matches over the weekend. The Tigers defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks on Friday, 4-0, and fell to the No. 25 Florida Gators, 4-3, on Sunday. LSU’s only other two losses came against No. 1 Georgia and No. 3 Ohio State. Nine out of LSU’s 12 victories this season have come against opponents ranked in the top 60.

Individual rankings were not released Tuesday. The Tigers represent three singles players and two doubles teams.

In singles, senior Ken Skupski leads the way at No. 24.

Danny Bryan remains at No. 44 and Kevin Dessauer is listed at No. 111.

Behind their strong doubles play, the Tigers have won the doubles point 12 out of their 15 matches.

The tandem of Bryan and Colt Gaston appear at No. 5 in the rankings. The SEC Indoors Champions went 3-0 this week, have compiled an outstanding 16-1 record this season and have won 27 out of their last 28 matches.

James Cluskey and Skupski appear at No. 14. The Tiger tandem owns a 15-8 record this season.

LSU’s next opponent, Ole Miss, is listed at No. 10. in the rankings. Other SEC members listed in the top 25 include Georgia (No. 1), Florida (No. 15), Alabama (No. 16) and Tennessee (No. 22).
