BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Dani Hofer was named the Louisiana Pitcher of the Week, while McNeese State’s Brooke Brodhead, LSU’s Dee Dee Henderson and Northwestern State’s Amanda Jameson tied for Louisiana Hitter of the Week honors, it was announced by the LSWA.
Hofer went 2-0 last week without allowing a single run in 16 total innings. Against Ole Miss on Saturday, she allowed just two singles , the only two base runners of the game, in a nine-inning shutout. She came back on Sunday and allowed only four hits in a complete-game shutout. On the weekend, she did not allow a base runner to reach third against her.
For the season, Hofer is 10-1 with a 1.18 earned run average. She has posted seven complete-game shutouts and 113 strikeouts in 71 innings pitched, averaging over 11 strikeouts per game in her 12 appearances.
Brodhead led the Cowgirls in their only victory of the week with 5-2 victory over Sam Houston State in the second game of a Southland Conference series. She led the Cowgirls with two home runs in the game and three in the series.
The junior from Lafayette knocked in the first four Cowgirl runs of the game as she was 2 for 3 with one walk in that game. For the week, Brodhead was 4-for-10 with six RBI’s, three home runs, three walks and scored three runs.
Henderson led the Tigers in batting average at .462 and stolen bases with four and tied for the team lead in hits with six for the week. The junior slap hitter extended her hitting streak to 11 with a hit in each of the four games. It marks the longest hitting streak on the team this year and is four games shy of the school record of 15 games.
Against Ole Miss on Saturday, she scored the game winning run in a 2-0 win in nine innings in the second game of the win over Ole Miss after reaching on a base hit. For the seasons, she leads LSU with a .568 batting average and a team-best 16 stolen bases.
Jameson hit .455 in five games for the Demons last week. In that span, she knocked two doubles and picked up seven total bases with four RBIs. In addition, the freshman from Burleson, Texas, had a .636 slugging percentage for the week.
This marks the second Louisiana Pitcher of the Week honor for Hofer this year, who also picked up Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week honors. It is the first Louisiana Hitter of the Week honors for Brodhead, Henderson and Jameson.
