NASHVILLE — The LSU women’s tennis team continues is Southeastern Conference slate as it travels to Nashville, Tenn., to face No. 35 Vanderbilt on Sunday at noon CDT.

“We just have to forget about Friday’s loss and move on to Vandy,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “The biggest problem that we are facing is that we are losing close matches. We have to find a way to overcome when it gets tight, pick our level up and play better tennis.”

LSU owns a 6-4 record, 1-2 in the SEC, their lone conference win coming against No. 24 Tennessee.

The Lady Tigers are coming off a heartbreaking loss to No. 23 Kentucky by a score of 4-3 on Friday in Lexington, Ky.

The Commodores are 9-4 overall, boasting a 3-0 conference record. They defeated Arkansas, 7-0, on Friday to begin their weekend.

Then No. 12 Vanderbilt swept LSU last year in Baton Rouge putting the Commodores ahead, 16-14, in the all-time series. Vanderbilt has held the upper hand of late, defeating LSU in nine straight meetings.

The Commodores list four singles players in the rankings released by ITA on Tuesday. Amanda Taylor is No. 32, Amanda Fish is No. 35, Catherine Newman is No. 49 and Taka Bertrand is No. 103.

In doubles play, Fish and Taylor are tied for 26 with a duo from the University of South Florida.

For the Lady Tigers, sophomore Megan Falcon is individually ranked at No. 2. She and her partner, Hannah Robinson, are No. 43 in doubles play.
