MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Two divers and LSU’s 200 medley relay saw action Friday as the Lady Tigers sit in a 21st-place tie after the second day of competition at the Women’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships here at the Minnesota Aquatic Center.
Both LSU and Miami have accumulated 21 points and trail SMU by one point for positioning in the top 20. Arizona holds a 375-343 lead on Auburn for first place heading into the final day of competition.
The Lady Tigers’ 200 medley relay team of Katie Gilmore, Signe Larson, Colleen Bertirotti and Katherine Noland just missed qualifying for the consolation finals. The group placed 21st overall in a time of 1:43.05.
Gilmore, Bertirotti and Noland won the consolation final of the 200 free on Thursday in earning All-America accolades for the second straight year.
Gilmore was the lone individual swimmer to participate on Friday as she placed 45th in a clocking of 56.94.
One day after earning All-America honors in the 1-meter, freshman Rachel Ware was the Lady Tigers’ highest scorer in the 3-meter Friday night. Ware placed 25th with a score of 296.55 in the prelims.
Senior Hali Saucier finished right behind Ware in 26th place with a tally of 293.55. Saucier closes out her remarkable LSU career on Saturday in the platform.
Gilmore, Noland and Bertirotti swim the 100 freestyle on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. Gilmore is seeded 54th in the event with a time of 50.45. Sophomore Sabrina Messmer joins the trio in the 400 free relay to close the meet.
