LEXINGTON, KY. — The LSU women’s tennis will travel to Lexington, Ky., to continue Southeastern Conference play as they take on the 23rd-ranked Kentucky Wildcats on Friday at 2 p.m. CST.

The Lady Tigers (6-3, 1-1 SEC) are coming off a weekend split at home as they knocked off No. 24 Tennessee in their SEC opener on Friday, but fell to No. 12 Georgia on Sunday, both by scores of 5-2.

“It is going to be a very tough match. Kentucky always has a very good team,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “We are excited about the opportunity to compete. We just have to come out and play well with the confidence that we have been playing with.”

The Wildcats have won four straight matches and, at 10-1, are off to the program’s best start in the last two decades. The current win streak includes a 2-0 start in Southeastern Conference play as UK swept Auburn and Alabama last weekend on the road.

The Lady Tigers trail in the all-time series 15-12, dropping last season’s match, 6-1, in Baton Rouge. LSU has won two of the past six meetings, both 4-3 victories, in 2002 and 2004.

The Wildcats senior Joelle Schwenk is ranked No. 87 by ITA. She and her partner, Kim Coventry are ranked No. 2 in doubles. Coventry is again ranked in doubles at No. 38 with Carolina Escamilla.

For the Lady Tigers, sophomore Megan Falcon jumped back up to No. 2 in the rankings. She and partner, Hannah Robinson, are ranked No. 43 in doubles play.

This marks the first of two road matches as the Lady Tigers will travel to Nashville, Tenn., on Sunday to face its fourth SEC opponent in the Vanderbilt Commodores.
