BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team was rewarded for a strong start to the regular season by jumping five spots to No. 15 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings released on Tuesday.
The Tigers (7-2, 1-1 SEC) split their first two matches of conference play. LSU defeated Tennessee, 4-3, Friday and fell to No.1 Georgia, 6-1, Sunday.
In individual rankings, the Tigers listed three singles players and two doubles teams.
James Cluskey and Ken Skupski jumped one spot to No. 5. Danny Bryan and Colt Gaston jumped 16 spots to No. 9. The Tiger tandem won 21 straight matches before losing to the No. 1 duo of Georgia’s Luis Flores and John Isner.
Leading the way in singles is senior Skupski at No. 21. Bryan continues to climb the individual rankings as he improved to No. 37. The New Orleans native leads the Tigers in singles victories with 17.
Kevin Dessauer made his first appearance in singles rankings at No. 86. The former walk on is an outstanding 8-1 in dual play.
LSU returns to play Friday when it host Kentucky at 2 p.m.
