BATON ROUGE — With the wins by Florida over Kentucky and Mississippi State over Alabama Sunday, the bracket was finalized for the 2007 Southeastern Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament that gets under way Thursday at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
The LSU Tigers, the sixth seed in the Western Division, will play the fourth and final game of the evening on Thursday, scheduled for around 8:45 p.m. CST against Tennessee, the third-seed from the Eastern Division. The winner of that game will now face Ole Miss, the co-champs of the Western Division, but because of Mississippi State’s win, the Rebels will be the West No. 2 seed.
The LSU games in the tournament will be broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network affiliates (Eagle 98.1 FM in Baton Rouge) and in the “Geaux Zone” at LSUsports.net. The games will be broadcast on the Lincoln Financial Sports network of stations throughout the Southeast through the semifinals with CBS Sports nationally-televising the championship game. The television games in Baton Rouge will be available on either WAFB or WBXH.
The rest of the Thursday schedule will find Alabama (W5) meeting Kentucky (E4) at Noon CST with South Carolina (E6) meeting Arkansas (W3) at 2:15 p.m. The opening game of the night session prior to the LSU game will be Georgia (E5) against Auburn (W4) at 6:30 p.m.
On Friday, Mississippi State (W1) will play the winner of Thursday’s Game 1, with Vanderbilt (E2) meeting the Game 2 winner from Thursday, with the SEC Champion Florida Gators, waiting on the winner of Thursday’s third contest.
Semifinal game times on Saturday at Noon and 2:15 p.m. CST with the championship game set to tip at Noon CST on Sunday.
