BATON ROUGE — LSU forwards Glen Davis and Tasmin Mitchell were named first-team All-District 8 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches on Wednesday.
Junior Davis earns first-team honors by the NABC for the second straight year, while sophomore Mitchell picks up his first all-district honor.
All players picked on one of the all-district teams around the country by the coaches are now eligible for first-team All-American selection by the NABC at the conclusion of the season.
Davis is averaging 18.1 points per game (3rd in the SEC) and is the league leader in rebound average at 10.5 boards a game (eighth in the nation).
Mitchell, a unanimous All-SEC Freshman selection a year ago, is averaging
14.2 points per game and 6.0 rebounds a game.
Joining the pair on the first team in District 8 are Trey Johnson of Jackson State, Bo McCalebb of UNO and Rashad Jones-Jennings of Arkansas-Little Rock. On the second team are: Tony Hooper of Louisiana-Monroe, Darryl Cohen of Southeastern Louisiana, Stefan Blaszczynski of Nicholls State, David Cohen of Tulane and Keenan Jones of Northwestern State.
