BATON ROUGE — Todd Jeansonne, assistant director of facilities at LSU and the Tigers’ sports turf manager, has been given the George Toma Golden Rake Award by the Sports Turf Managers Association.
The award, given each year by the STMA for dedication and performance by an outstanding young groundskeeper, was presented to Jeansonne at the annual STMA Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
Jeansonne was recognized for his work ethic and job performance and he was especially praised for his work and leadership in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, handling the challenging assignment of preparing the Tiger Stadium field for four additional games for the New Orleans Saints during the 2005 LSU season.
Since coming to LSU, Jeansonne has managed over 55 acres of practice and competition turfgrass and manicured grounds. His most notable accomplishment is the newly renovated Tiger Stadium game field.
As assistant director of athletic facilities, Jeansonne manages the LSU Athletic Department Sports Turf program and directs the day to day operations of the athletic facilities department. He also had administrative oversight of small capital facility improvements and renovations.
