BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team was well represented in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings released Wednesday. The team held its spot at No. 20 and listed two singles players and two doubles teams in the individual rankings.
The Tigers (5-0) have won two straight matches against ranked opponents. LSU swept No. 62 UL-Lafayette, 7-0, on Saturday and knocked off No. 35 Rice, 4-3, on Tuesday.
The Southeastern Conference features two teams in the top-10 with Georgia at No. 1 and Ole Miss at No. 4.
Three of LSU’s upcoming non-conference opponents received high rankings as well. LSU’s opponent this Saturday, Ohio State, remained at No. 2. The Buckeyes reached the finals of the ITA Team Indoor Championships in Chicago this past weekend. Additionally, LSU face No. 18 Texas A&M on March 17 and No. 7 Illinois on March 20.
In individual rankings, Senior Ken Skupski came in at No. 24. Danny Bryan was listed at No. 62.
In doubles, even after going undefeated in dual play, LSU’s top doubles duo of Skupski and James Cluskey dropped to No. 6. The duo has won a team-best 11 matches this season. The Tiger tandem of Bryan and Colt Gaston came in at No. 25. The SEC Indoor Champions have won 19-straight matches dating back to last season.
LSU will be back in action Saturday when it host No. 2 Ohio State at 11 a.m.
