BATON ROUGE — LSU’s athletics was recognized at the 2007 ADDY Awards presented by the Advertising Federation of Greater Baton Rouge this past Saturday.
The ADDY Awards recognize the “best of the best” in advertising creativity from the 2006 calendar year.
LSU earned one gold and one silver for its work with the men’s and women’s basketball campaigns.
“I’m very proud of our staff for winning these awards,” LSU Athletics Director Skip Bertman said. “The presentation of LSU Athletics to the community is important, and these awards are indicative of the fine work done by our publications office and marketing staff.”
The gold, in the category of Elements of Advertising – Animation or Special Effect for Video or Film, was won for the work by Baton Rouge based production company Digital FX on the women’s basketball commercial and game opening video. LSU Athletics marketing director Jenni Peters worked alongside the LSU women’s basketball team and Digital FX to produce the spots.
The silver, in the category of Elements of Advertising ? Illustration Campaign, was won for the men’s basketball hand drawn illustrations for the season-long campaign. LSU Athletics marketing director Guy Gaster and publication’s director Jason Feirman worked with local illustrator Brian Athey.
Brandon Jantz, a student in the LSU’s publications office, received three student gold awards, one student silver and also was honored with the Special Student Judges Award.
Jantz won one gold for his brochure for the graphic design of an annual report. His other two gold awards came in the same category of Website Interactive Media, including one for the LSU Football Operations Center virtual tour.
In addition to the LSU honors, Feirman received the individual Silver Medal Award from the Federation. Feirman received the honor along with Colleen Jackson from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana. The Silver Medal recipients are selected by a panel of judges based on their contributions to the general advancement of advertising and contributions to the local community.
Feirman and Jackson are Co-Communications Committee chairs and produce newsletters, postcard and other communications devices to promote the federation.
