BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge native David St. Romain, one of the five remaining finalists in this season’s USA Network’s Nashville Star program, will play a charity concert following the conclusion of Saturday’s LSU-Mississippi State men’s basketball game at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The game is set for 2 p.m. and the concert will begin approximately 30 minutes following the end of the game. Donations to benefit the local Volunteers of America – Parker House will be accepted as fans arrive at the game and following the concert as part of the event.
Volunteers of America Parker House is a Christian-based organization that provides 24-hours ? 7 days a week emergency-shelter care and residential treatment for children, ages 3-13. Care is provided under the Emergency Shelter Grants Program to children who have been abused, neglected, and/or abandoned, and placed in the care or legal custody of the State.
St. Romain will also play an acoustical set at halftime of the game and footage from the post-game concert will be used in an upcoming episode of Nashville Star, which airs live on Thursday nights at 9 p.m. CST on USA Network (Ch. 27 in Baton Rouge).
St. Romain has appeared in several local establishments over the years and has performed as many as 150 dates a year in over 20 states until meeting his present wife in Baton Rouge in 2002. Within the last two years, he has been starting a writing and publishing career and he received his first published song in 2006. He is currently writing with many of Nashville’s top songwriters and he now is just a possible few weeks from even greater success on Nashville Star.
Tickets for the basketball game which includes admission to the concert after the game are $14 and $5 for youth, ages 3-12. Tickets can be purchased at the LSU Athletics Ticket Office or online at www.LSUsports.net.
