Saucier Named SEC Women’s Diver of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — LSU senior diver Hali Saucier was named Southeastern Conference Female Diver of the Week after sweeping both boards in the Lady Tigers’ quad-meet victory over Houston, Rice and New Orleans, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Saucier, a native of Gig Harbor, Wash., posted her second straight sweep of both boards in the final home meet of her career last weekend at the LSU Natatorium.

Saucier, who earned a sweep last week at No. 5 Texas A&M, shattered her own school record in a first-place finish in the 3-meter (340.50). That score registered as the fourth-best mark in the SEC this season. The senior then won the 1-meter in a score of 288.15.

For Saucier, it was her 15th and 16th individual wins of the season in 20 events. She becomes the Lady Tigers’ first female diver of the week since Jessica Wantz received the award on Jan. 18, 2005.

The senior is enjoying one of the finest diving seasons in school history. Saucier is tops in the SEC in platform diving after recording a mark of 294.30 in a win at the Art Adamson Invitational on Nov. 19. She ranks second in the league in 1-meter diving (321.37).

Saucier has been a standout student-athlete throughout her career having maintained a 4.0 grade-point average. Last February, she received the highest honor of any LSU student-athlete when she was named the 2005-06 LSU Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Saucier also received the Wally Pontiff, Jr., Academic Excellence Award for her contributions in the classroom and the community.

Saucier, who has earned her NCAA Zone qualifying scores, joins the rest of the LSU divers at the SEC Championships this Friday through Sunday in Lexington, Ky.
