BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s swimming and diving team moved up one spot to No. 23 in the latest College Swim Coaches Association of America poll, it was announced on Friday.
The Tigers received 73 points in the CSCAA poll and are one of six Southeastern Conference teams currently ranked. Texas remained No. 1 and received all 10 first-place votes after the Longhorns finished their dual-meet season with a 7-0 record. Stanford, Auburn, California and Arizona round out the top five.
Six of the teams in the poll were LSU opponents this season, highlighted by No. 2 Stanford and No. 3 Auburn.
Despite suffering a tough defeat to Texas A&M last weekend, LSU upset then-No. 10 Florida State on Jan. 12 to move up from No. 24 to No. 23. The Seminoles, whose only loss was to the Tigers, dropped from No. 10 to No. 15.
The Aggies jumped back into the poll at No. 24 after upending LSU last weekend in College Station.
The Tiger divers compete at the SEC Diving Championships, Feb. 2-4, in Lexington, Ky. The SEC Swimming Championships take place Feb. 7-10 at the same venue.
