BATON ROUGE — The LSU Baseball Coaches Committee will play host to a series of special events February 1-3 to herald the beginning of the 2007 season.
The festivities begin with the First Pitch Banquet on Thursday, February 1 in the Maravich Center, featuring coach Paul Mainieri and his 2007 LSU squad. The event, which begins with a 6 p.m. social hour, will also honor LSU’s 1996 and 1997 national championship teams.
The First Pitch Banquet is open to the public. Tickets are $50 each or $500 for a table of eight. Tickets may be purchased by contacting the LSU Baseball office at 225.578.4148.
The festivities continue with the First Pitch Alumni Golf Tournament at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 2 at the LSU Golf Course.
The golf tournament, which will use a four-man scramble format, is open to LSU fans and former Tiger players and coaches.
The entry fee is $150 per person ($100 for alumni) and includes green fee, cart, a pullover shirt, a photo with Mainieri and lunch.
Sponsorships, which include signage at the course, are available for $200 per hole. Sponsorships are open both to golf tournament participants and to groups wishing to support the LSU Baseball program.

The YMCA Baton Rouge Kids’ Baseball Clinic will be held on Saturday, February 3 from 9 a.m.-Noon in Alex Box Stadium. The event is a free instructional clinic conducted by an All-Star list of current and former professional players, scouts and coaches. Autograph and photo opportunities will be available following the clinic.
The YMCA clinic will be followed at 2 p.m. by a Purple-Gold intrasquad scrimmage as the 2007 team prepares for its Feb. 9 season opener versus Saint Mary’s (Calif.).
Admission is free to the Purple-Gold scrimmage.
Former LSU players are also encouraged to become part of the LSU Baseball Alumni data base. Alumni may visit www.lsusports.net, click the TEAMS menu and then the BASEBALL menu. There they will find the ALUMNI ONLY button, which will allow them to register on the data base and begin receiving regular updates on the LSU baseball program and information about Alumni events.
