Men’s Tennis Ranked No. 21 by ITA; Skupski No. 9

BATON ROUGE — The Intercollegiate Tennis Association ranked the LSU men’s tennis team No. 21 in the nation in its first poll released Tuesday.

Five Tigers will open the 2007 campaign ranked in individual rankings.

Ken Skupski leads the way for the Tigers as he earned a top-10 ranking in both singles and doubles. Skupski list at No.9 in singles after posting a 9-4 mark in the fall season. Additionally, the two-time All-American claimed the consolation bracket title at the ITA National Intercollegiate Championships in November.

In doubles, Skupski and James Cluskey are listed at No. 3.  Such a high ranking is well deserved as the duo had a fantastic fall campaign that was highlighted by two ITA semifinal appearances.

Senior Danny Bryan entered the single rankings at No. 68. The New Orleans native notched a team-high 11 wins during the fall season.

Kevin Dessauer and Eric DeRoche appeared in the double rankings as well, as they came in tied at No. 44.

The Tigers will be back action next weekend as they travel to New Orleans for the SEC Coaches Indoor Championships. Skupski has won the Indoor title the past two seasons.
