BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s basketball team was ranked for a 13th consecutive time in the major college basketball polls as the Tigers were ranked 17th in the Associated Press poll and 19th in the ESPN/USA Today poll announced Monday.
It was the eighth poll of the season as LSU dropped from 12th in the AP poll and 15th in the ESPN/USA Today poll last week after a 1-1 week in which the Tigers lost at Washington and defeated Louisiana Tech. LSU and Memphis are the only three loss teams ranked in the top 25.
UCLA is the near unanimous choice for No. 1 in both polls as Florida, after their victory over Ohio State on Saturday, moves to No. 3 in both polls. Alabama moved up to eighth in both polls. Tennessee returned to the polls at 21 in the AP poll.
The Tigers will play three straight nights this week beginning Wednesday when they take on Wright State in the 7:30 p.m. nightcap of the first day doubleheader of the Hispanic College Fund Classic at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Samford and Mississippi Valley will meet in the 5 p.m. opener. LSU plays Mississippi Valley on Thursday and Samford on Friday.
