Diving Teams Travel to Georgia Tech Invitational

ATLANTA — The LSU diving team joins Florida State, Georgia Tech and Auburn in the two-day Georgia Tech Invitational, beginning at 10 a.m. CT Saturday.

Saturday’s competition features men’s and women’s 1-meter and 3-meter springboard. Men’s and women’s platform gets underway at 10 a.m. CT Sunday.

Diving coach Doug Shaffer said the exclusive diving meet gives the squad another chance at competition, particularly in platform.

“We’re coming here because we need the experience and the chance to go up against competition like Auburn,” said Shaffer. “When you are competing in dual meets, we do not compete in platform. This enables us to do that as we continue our training toward the championship season.”

The Tigers are sending six divers to Atlanta, including senior Hali Saucier, junior Paige Brown, freshman Rachel Ware, freshman Kalister Harmon, senior Andrew Keane and sophomore Nathan Schreiber.

Saucier won two of the three events she competed in as LSU enjoyed a successful Art Adamson Invitational in November. The senior won the 3-meter (314.75) as well as the platform (294.30) in the final day of competition.

Saucier ranks first in the SEC with her 3-meter, six-dive tally of 340.35 she accumulated in a dual meet against No. 2 Florida on Nov. 9.

Schreiber helped the Tigers to the Adamson Invitational men’s title with a runner-up finish in the 1-meter and third-place finishes in the 3-meter and platform.
