BATON ROUGE — The LSU Athletics Department announced Thursday the creation of the Maravich Maniac Incentive Program for the 2006-2007 LSU Men’s Basketball season.
The Maravich Maniac Incentive Program will reward loyal LSU students for their attendance at LSU men’s basketball games. The program gives a student a prize for every three games they attend.
The Maravich Maniac Incentive Program prizes include a coupon for free Jack in the Box food after attending three games, a long-sleeved LSU Basketball t-shirt for attending six games, a pair of LSU Crocs for nine games, LSU mesh shorts for twelve games and an LSU Nike team bag for those students who attend fifteen games.
In addition to the Maravich Maniac Incentive Program, LSU students will also have the chance to win Tiger Cash at each game through the Maravich Maniac Jackpot contest. In this promotion, one lucky registered Maniac will have their name called and will have a set amount of time to claim their prize while wearing their official 2006-07 Maravich Maniac t-shirt. Students are also encouraged to wear their Maravich Maniac t-shirt on campus on game days as the Maniac Prize Patrol will be on the lookout for these individuals and awarding prizes to these individuals for showing their support for the Tigers on gameday.
Students’ information for the incentive program will be retrieved when their student ID’s are scanned for admission at games. The Athletic Department’s Marketing Office via e-mail will inform students of reaching a prize level. Students can also check on their status and learn more about the program by logging on to www.MaravichManiacs.com, a website that will be launched within the next week.
As the official student section of LSU Men’s basketball, the Maravich Maniacs are named after the namesake of the Tigers’ home basketball arena. The LSU student body chose the name last year via online voting. All full-time LSU students are able to be a part of the Maravich Maniacs and admission to LSU Basketball games is free for these individuals. Upon attending their first game, all full-time students can receive a free Maravich Maniac t-shirt.
For the 2006-2007 season, Crocs will serve as the official sponsor of the Maravich Maniacs.
LSU Men’s Basketball tips off the 2006-2007 regular season this Friday when they host Nicholls State at 7 p.m. The Tigers then take on UL-Monroe two days later, with a 3 p.m. tip-off on Sunday.
