BATON ROUGE — LSU has yet to play an official game, but the Associated Press media voters made an early season course correction on the Tigers’ ranking, dropping LSU two spots from five to seven in the second poll of the season.

The Tigers remained seventh in the second coaches’ poll released by ESPN/USA Today.

LSU was ranked fifth in the preseason AP poll, its highest preseason ranking since the 1989-90 poll. The Tigers have played one exhibition win, a 70-65 decision over EA Sports and play Louisiana College in its second exhibition game on Wednesday. LSU will be the last Southeastern Conference team to open its season on Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center against Nicholls State University.
