COLUMBUS, Ohio — Sophomore Megan Falcon of the LSU women’s tennis team is set to compete at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships hosted by Ohio State University this weekend.
“It is quite an honor for Megan to get selected, and hopefully she can continue the way she played at the All-American tournament,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “She has a very tough first match, but she is doing a great job establishing herself as one of the top players in the country.”
This is the second of three national tournaments for singles and doubles during the 2006-07 collegiate tennis season. These championships feature a 32-player singles field and 16-team doubles field.
The tournament includes champions from Wilson/ITA Regional Championships held across the country during October, the ITA National Small College champions, the winners of the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships and at-large and wild card selections made earlier this week by the ITA National Tournament Committee.
The tournament will be held from Thursday through Sunday at The Racquet Club of Columbus.
Falcon will be competing in the 32-player singles competition. She will open play against No. 28 Riza Zalameda of UCLA on Thursday at noon.
