FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The LSU women’s swimming and diving team looks to maintain its winning ways as it travels to Arkansas in another Southeastern Conference tilt at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The Lady Tigers are coming off a 181-106 win against Delta State last weekend at the LSU Natatorium. LSU captured 15 of the 16 women’s events led by three individual victories from sophomore Katherine Noland and a sweep of both diving events from senior Hali Saucier.
For her efforts, Saucier was named LSU Female Student Athlete of the Week by a panel of local media. Saucier finished seven points shy of the school record in the 3-meter with a career-high score of 330.98. She also recorded the fourth-highest 1-meter, six-dive total in school history (303.52).
Each of Saucier’s scores currently rank second in the SEC heading into this weekend’s competition.
Meanwhile, Noland has accumulated four victories in only two meets, including a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle at defending national champion Auburn. Noland’s time of 51.30 ranks ninth in the conference and is just shy of an NCAA provisional cut.
The Lady Tigers own a 10-2 mark all-time against the Lady Razorbacks, including wins in the last three meetings. Head coach Adam Schmitt opened his LSU tenure with a 73-60 triumph against Arkansas in 2004, the last time the two league foes met.
The Lady Tigers have won nine out of the last 10 meetings between the two with LSU’s only loss during that span coming at home in 2000. LSU owns a perfect 4-0 mark at Fayetteville and last faced the Lady Razorbacks there to open the 1998-99 season.
Arkansas is coming off a 168-132 loss at Nebraska last weekend. The Lady Razorbacks return 12 letterwinners from a squad that finished ninth at the SEC Championships last February.
Following Saturday’s meet, the Lady Tigers return home to face No. 2 Florida at 1 p.m. Thursday.
