Falcon Upsets Nation’s No. 5 Tennis Player

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Sophomore Megan Falcon of the LSU women’s tennis team continued her relentless attack on ranked opponents as she defeated No. 5-ranked Zsuzsanna Fodor of California in the consolation bracket of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.

With two wins today, the California native has improved her record to 8-1 including an unprecedented seven wins over ranked opponents.

“Megan continues to improve match by match,” LSU assistant coach Lisa Jackson said. “She has shown great character dealing with so many matches with top competitors.”

Falcon advanced to the quarterfinals after her Round of 16 opponent, Stanford’s Jessica Nguyen, withdrew due to injury.

Falcon faced little competition in her match against Fodor as she won in two sets, 6-3, 6-1. All of Falcon’s wins this season have been in straight sets.

The sophomore sensation hopes to improve her already extraordinary tournament performance tomorrow as takes on No. 27 ranked Jenna Long of North Carolina.
