FORT WORTH, Texas — Sophomore Megan Falcon and freshman Hannah Robinson of the LSU women’s tennis team advanced to the semifinal round at the ITA Southwest Regional.
“Megan and Hannah played an outstanding match,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “I was very pleased with the play of all the girls in this tournament.”
Falcon and Robinson defeated No. 10 Sarah Foster and Tiffany Clifford of Texas A&M, 8-4. They will face the winner of Anna Lubinsky/Nicki Mechem from TAMU and Kerryn Potgeiter/Lakann Wagley from TT.
In singles play, junior Tiffany Tucker fell to Southeastern Louisiana’s Jana Simurkova in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3.
Sophomore Mykala Hedberg defeated Rice’s Rebecca Lin, 6-2, 6-1. She was then eliminated from the tournament as she fell to Texas A&M’s Sarah Foster, 6-3, 7-6.
“It was a great learning experience for the freshman playing against seeded players,” Minnis said. “We need to grow from this tournament and continue getting better, but I am very positive about the direction in which we are headed.”
