MIDLAND, TEXAS. — The LSU women’s tennis team will continue its fall season at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational hosted by The Racquet Club in Midland, Texas.
This is the second year that this tournament is being held; however, the Lady Tigers will make their first appearance this year.
“This is a very strong tournament,” said LSU assistant coach Lisa Jackson. “The top teams in the country compete in this tournament.”
The tournament, which begins Friday and ends Sunday, is a draw 32 with participants from 10 teams competing. LSU will be represented by sophomore Staten Spencer and freshman Hannah Robinson.
Other schools include No. 3 USC, No. 6 Baylor, No. 14 Pepperdine, No. 16 UCLA, No. 29 Texas A&M, No. 45 New Mexico, No. 63 Boise State, No. 66 Rice and UT-Arlington.
Spencer will compete against Texas A&M’s No. 112 Anna Blagodarova. Blagodarova is the No. 6 seed in the tournament.
“Staten will really get to test herself and see where she stands with this match,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said.
Robinson will take on Rice’s Tiffany Lee in her first match of the tournament.
Spencer and Robinson will also compete in doubles play. The doubles draw has not yet been determined.
Play begins Friday, Oct. 13, at 9:15 a.m.
