Doubles Team Falls in ITA All-American Semifinal

TULSA, Okla. — James Cluskey and Ken Skupski of the LSU men’s tennis team fell short of reaching the doubles final of the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships, as they lost Saturday in the semifinals.

“Michigan’s team was disciplined and able to exploit some weaknesses of our guys,” LSU associate head coach Mark Booras said.

The LSU duo held their own in the early goings of their match with Michigan’s Brian Hung and Matko Maravic, but Michigan’s veteran skills took over in the end as the Tigers fell by an 8-4 count.

The Tiger tandem picked up three wins at this tournament including yesterday’s victory against No. 3-ranked Middle Tennessee’s Marco Born and Andreas Siljestrom. They now hold a 6-3 record as a doubles team.

“Overall Ken and James had a great tournament,” Booras commented. “After today’s match they learned some things they need to work on as a team.”

The next stop for the Tigers is at the ITA Southeast Championships in Lexington, Ky., which begins Oct. 20.
