BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Three members of the LSU women’s tennis team are set to compete at the Hoosier Classic hosted by Indiana University this weekend.
The tournament, which begins Friday and ends Sunday, will be comprised of four flights (A-D) with additional round robin matches for singles competition. Each flight is a draw eight. The doubles portion of the tournament will be set tomorrow morning. This is the fifth-straight year the Lady Tigers have competed at this event.
The field of eight for this tournament includes six teams finishing in the top 60 a year ago, with No. 5 Notre Dame, No. 25 Georgia, No. 44 Indiana, No. 54 Kansas State, No. 57 LSU and No. 59 Kansas participating. Mississippi State and Murray State round out the list of competitors.
“Our girls have been practicing really hard this week and had some good results out of the last tournament,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “There are a lot of high quality teams in this tournament and our girls are ready for the challenge.”
Freshman Ashley Murdock will open the tournament at 9:30 a.m. CT as she faces Kansas’s Edina Horvath in the flight “C” bracket.
Juniors Anastasiya Dubova and Tiffany Tucker play at 11 a.m. and will face Notre Dame’s Katie Potts and Mississippi State’s Tatiana Felt, respectively.
Murdock and Tucker will compete in the doubles portion of the tournament.
