BATON ROUGE — Wide receiver Early Doucet and forward Roslyn Jones were named the LSU Male and Female Athletes of the Week Tuesday following a vote by a local media panel.
Doucet scored a career-best three touchdowns in the Tigers’ 49-7 dismantling of Tulane on Saturday. The St. Martinville, La., native caught four passes for 36 yards and two scores and rushed once for a 17-yard touchdown. In doing so, Doucet became the first LSU receiver since Michael Clayton in 2001 to score both a rushing TD and a receiving TD in the same game.
Jones helped LSU to its first ever victory over Kentucky on Sunday, scoring the game-winning goal with just three seconds to go in the Tigers’ 3-2 decision. The Mandeville, La., native also assisted with LSU’s first goal against the Wildcats to finish the game with three points.
