Soccer Announces ‘Cram the Complex’ Promotion

BATON ROUGE — The LSU Marketing and Promotions Department has announced that the soccer team’s home match against Vanderbilt on Friday is the focus of the fourth-annual “Cram the Complex” campaign aimed at setting the attendance record at the LSU Soccer Complex.

“Our target for ?Cram the Complex’ each year has been to have over 1,000 fans at the LSU Soccer Complex,” said promotions manager Jenni Peters. “With the great crowd of over 1,600 fans at the match against Texas last week, we are setting our sights higher for Friday night.”

The Tigers drew 1,669 fans for their match against 14th-ranked Texas on Wednesday for “Baton Rouge Soccer Association Night,” which is 20 short of the all-time record of 1,689 fans who witnessed LSU’s match against arch-rival Ole Miss last season in the third-annual “Cram the Complex” campaign.

“We had a great crowd here on Wednesday, and we hope to exceed that when we play again Friday night,” said LSU head coach Brian Lee. “LSU fans are unmatched in their passion and enthusiasm, and our kids feed off that energy during a game. Our fans are excited about the future of this program, and crowds such as this are evidence of that.”

Fans in attendance at Friday’s match have the opportunity to drive away in a brand new Harley Davidson motorcycle courtesy of Harley Davidson of Baton Rouge as one lucky fan will be selected at random to attempt the “Around the World” at halftime.

Five kicks will be attempted from designated spots around the penalty box with the contestant winning the motorcycle if he or she scores a goal on all five kicks. Prizes will be awarded for each made goal if the contestant fails to win the motorcycle. There will also be a paper airplane toss for the chance to win other great prizes, including an iPod shuffle.

Sunday’s match against Kentucky at 1 p.m. features more exciting promotions as all fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the game with a leash. The first 200 dogs through the gate will receive a free LSU “Geaux Dog Geaux” collar, and all dogs and their owners will be escorted to a special seating area on the LSU practice field reserved for the game.

Sunday will also feature a “Pooch Parade” at halftime for all dogs and their owners with three dogs being selected as looking most like their owner and the ovation received by each contestant determining the winner. In addition, 200 free hot dogs will be given away during the game.
