Tiger Stadium … The Newest Old Stadium in America
#8 LSU vs. ARIZONA ? Saturday, September 9 ? Tiger Stadium ? 5:30 p.m. ? ESPN2
Dear Tiger Fans,
Tiger Stadium is one of the oldest college football stadiums in America, but I hope you will agree that, despite its age, Tiger Stadium looks better than it ever has.
The fact that Tiger Stadium is one of the biggest, best and most attractive stadiums in the nation is thanks in great part to the participation of the Tiger Athletic Foundation. In the last five years, LSU and the TAF have teamed up to add 70 new suites and over 11,000 new seats to the east side of the stadium, renovate the west side of the stadium to include 3,200 Stadium Club seats and a new press box, replace all of the lower bowl sideline seats, replace the playing field and construct a new attractive west stadium parking lot.
All of these improvements, along with the opening of a state-of-the-art Football Operations Center last year and a new Academic Center for Student-Athletes in 2002, have been made possible by the TAF. These improvements will have a direct and long-lasting impact on the LSU Athletics program.
The TAF has long been an important partner for LSU, but since the year 2000 the TAF has taken its support to an all new level. The TAF and LSU are truly committed to our collective motto: “Working together to make LSU the best athletics program in America.”

WEST SIDE ENTRY REMINDER
Here are a couple of reminders to fans who enter through Portal A on the west side of Tiger Stadium:
- Don’t forget that there are 18 gates at Portal A. There is usually a high volume of fans trying to enter Tiger Stadium immediately after the Tiger Band has marched down North Stadium Drive. Last week, many fans went immediately to the northernmost gates at Portal A, creating long lines at some gates and no lines at all at other gates.
- Don’t forget there are six elevators that go to the west upper deck. There is a bank of three elevators on the north end of the ground level terrace in front of the stadium, and there is a bank of three elevators on the south end of the ground level terrace.
- Don’t forget there is a ramp on the southwest corner of the stadium for fans who want to walk to the west upper deck.
- Don’t forget there are six elevators that go to the Stadium Club and Press Box.

TICKET BUYERS BEWARE
Similar to most professional and college sports venues, LSU is now scanning tickets at the gates of Tiger Stadium, using a bar code on the ticket to verify admission. Once a ticket is scanned, it is no longer good for admission. If you plan to buy a ticket on the street near Tiger Stadium, be aware that the ticket will not allow admission if the bar code has already been scanned.
