BATON ROUGE — Kassi Mikulik, the starting Libero on the Tigers’ volleyball team, was selected as the LSU Female Athlete of the Week Monday in a vote by a local media panel.
Mikulik, a senior from Flatonia, Texas, helped LSU to a 2-1 record at the Tiger Invitational as they defeated Rice and Nicholls State before taking second-ranked Penn State to five games.
Individually, Mikulik was named the Libero of the tournament after leading the team in digs (55) and digs per game (4.58) in every match of the tournament. With her 55 digs on the weekend Mikulik moved into 10th place on LSU’s all-time career digs list with 877, passing former Tiger All-American Nyla Shepherd with 869.
In addition, Mikulik also recorded four service aces and had only five reception errors in 79 receptions attempts.
Mikulik and the rest of the LSU volleyball team return to action this Friday through Saturday at the Billiken Invitational in St. Louis, Mo.
