AUSTIN, Texas — For the second time this summer, an LSU women’s golfer captured a title on the Collegiate Players Tour as junior Kim Meck scored an impressive five-shot victory in the Flintrock Falls Collegiate Open here Thursday.
Meck, three shots out of the lead after an opening round 77 on the par 72 Flintrock Falls layout, came back with a one-under 71 in the second round to move into a tie for the 36-hole lead with Janet DeGroat of El Paso.
Meck’s strong play continued in Thursday’s final round, shooting a one-over par 73 as no one bested 76 in the 29-player field.
Meck finished at five-over 221 (77-71-73), five shots better than Megan Dowdy of Leander, Texas (78-71-77) at 226. DeGroat fell back to an 82 in the final round.
LSU golfer Melissa Eaton won the CPT event held in the Baton Rouge area earlier this summer.
