Volleyball Signs Illinois Standout Maggie Lonergan

BATON ROUGE — The LSU volleyball team received a National Letter of Intent from Antioch Community High School Maggie Lonergan, it was announced by Tiger head coach Fran Flory on Wednesday.

The 5-8 setter from Antioch, Ill., which is located in northeast Illinois just south of the Wisconsin border, was a two-time first-team All-Conference and All-Area and earned first-team All-Lake County honors in 2005. In addition, she was selected to participate in the inaugural Lake County All-Star Tournament and was the Coaches Award Player of the Year.

As a senior, she recorded 697 assists with 66 service aces. She also posted 134 kills with a .650 kills percentage in her final season.

The Sequoits were the inaugural Prairie Division champion and were the co-champions of the Lakes Invitational in 2005 after winning the regional championship in 2004. Antioch Community High School also earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for maintaining a team grade point average of 3.0 or better.

As a member of the Sky High Volleyball Club, her team finished 14th in the 17 Open Division in 2005. In addition, they finished third place in the 16 Club National Division in 2004 and in the 15 Club National Division a year earlier. The setter was named a National Club all-tournament selection both years.

The left-handed Lonergan is the daughter of Bill and Elaine Lonergan. She has an older brother, Jason, and a younger sister, Katie.
