Skupski, Growcott Invited to NCAA Championships

BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Ken Skupski has been selected to compete in the 2006 NCAA Singles Championships and will pair with teammate Mark Growcott at the Doubles Championships as announced by the NCAA Championship Subcommittee.

This is Skupski’s third consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships. The Tiger junior and co-captain is currently 28-8 overall this season with an 18-5 record in dual matches.  Skupski was ranked 14th in the final singles poll of the regular season.

Skupski and Growcott reached the finals of last season’s Doubles Championships and will look to match that run this year. The duo boast a 20-7 overall record this season and were 9-2 during SEC play.

LSU’s No. 3 doubles pair of Danny Bryan and Colt Gaston were selected as alternates for the Doubles Championships. The duo led the Tigers in doubles wins this season with 25 and were ranked 38th in the final ITA poll. Both players were also named second-team All-SEC.

The 2006 NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships will be held May 24-29 at the Taube Tennis Center in Stanford, Calif., following the conclusion of the team championship May 20-23.
