LSU, Arkansas Rematch Set in SEC Women’s Tennis Tournament

BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team received the No. 10 seed in this year’s Southeastern Conference Tournament in the draws released by the league office Sunday.

The Lady Tigers, who completed the regular season with an 11-11 overall record and a 3-8 mark in conference action, are set to face No. 7-seeded Arkansas (10-9, 5-6 SEC) in a 1 p.m. CT Thursday match-up at Florida’s Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville, Fla.

LSU just finished its regular season with a 5-2 win over the Lady ?Backs on Saturday.

Florida received the tournament’s No. 1 overall seed with Vanderbilt as the No. 2 seed. A win versus Arkansas would put the Lady Tigers up against the Lady ?Dores.

Other teams receiving first-round byes are No. 3 Kentucky and No. 4 Georgia.

In the top half of the bracket, Tennessee, the No. 5 seed, will match up against 12th-seeded Auburn in the opening round as will No. 8 South Carolina and No. 9 Ole Miss.

In LSU’s half of the bracket, the other first round match is between No. 6 Alabama and No. 11 Mississippi State.

The Lady Tigers made an early exit from last year’s tournament, 4-3, to Mississippi State in the first round.
