Women’s Tennis to Close Regular Season, Honor Seniors

BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team concludes its regular season at home Saturday at 1 p.m. against the Lady ‘Backs of Arkansas and will honor its four seniors in their final appearance at W.T. Robinson Tennis Stadium.

“These seniors have been a very important part of our program for four years now, and we’re looking to send them off with a win over Arkansas,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said.

Camila Caliari, Marina Chiarelli, Daysi Espinal and Lauren Seaman will all be honored prior to the match for their contributions to the LSU women’s tennis program in their four years.

They will try to lead the Lady Tigers back to a .500 record in their final home appearance, as the team dropped to 10-11 with a 4-3 loss Wednesday at Tulsa.

Arkansas, atop the Southeastern Conference Western Division leaderboard and ranked 43rd in the country, boasts a 10-8 (5-5 SEC) record heading into the contest.

They have been led this year by a pair of talented freshmen who are both currently in the rankings. Aurelija Misevicute is ranked No. 31 and Ela Kaluder is 55th.

The Lady Tigers hold a 16-9 advantage in the overall series and have beaten the Lady ‘Backs in each of the last seven meetings.

This match-up concludes the regular season for LSU, who will begin play in the SEC Tournament on Thursday.
