BATON ROUGE — LSU’s men’s tennis team will try to keep their four match SEC win streak going when it hosts Mississippi State for senior day at 1 p.m. Sunday at W. T. Robinson Tennis Stadium.
The Tigers (12-6 5-2 SEC) are coming off of back-to-back wins over top 10 opponents and now control their own destiny in winning the SEC West race.
LSU head coach Jeff Brown feels that his team is playing well right now, but knows that his players must remain focused if the team is to keep winning.
“We’ve won two big matches in a row, but this is another SEC opponent,” said Brown. “Any time you don’t bring your best game in this league, you can get beat.”
The LSU run has come on the strength of solid doubles play. The Tigers have won only one match this season where they didn’t gain the early point. The LSU singles lineup is as healthy as it has been all season, making it capable of closing out any opponent.
Mississippi State (4-7, 1-4 SEC) is coming off of three straight losses, two of which came against top 20 teams.
Sunday’s match will be senior day for LSU’s Mark Growcott and Paul White. The pair will be honored during a special presentation following the completion of the doubles matches.
