BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Final Four-bound men’s basketball team will be featured on the CBS Evening News tonight, which airs at 5:30 p.m.
CBS Evening News reporter Jim Acosta caught up with the Tigers on Sunday, a day after their 70-60 overtime win over Texas in the Atlanta Regional Finals. The Tigers will face UCLA in the national semifinals on Saturday night at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis.
The CBS piece on the Tigers takes a look at the team’s trek to the school’s first Final Four appearance since 1986, while also focusing on what LSU’s success has done to uplift the state of Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
The CBS Evening News appearance is that first of what should be many national television network opportunities for the Tigers in the coming days. LSU has already received requests for John Brady and members of the team to appear on CBS’s Early Show, FSN’s Best Damn Sports Show, ESPN’s Cold Pizza, and CNBC’s Squawk Box.
