BATON ROUGE — Nearly 1,000 LSU fans welcomed the Final Four-bound Tigers back to campus on Saturday night, just a few hours after the teams’ thrilling 70-60 overtime win over Texas at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
The crowd gathered outside the Maravich Assembly Center and cheered on the Tigers as the team arrived back to campus.
LSU’s win over the Longhorns sent John Brady and the Tigers to the school’s first Final Four since the 1986 season.
“Thank you for being here and thank you for being great fans,” Brady told the crowd outside the Maravich Assembly Center. “This is a special group of young men. I’m very proud of these guys and I know you are too, especially after that win over Texas tonight.
“I know that going to the Final Four is very special and a big deal, but we still have two more games left.”
Glen Davis, Tyrus Thomas and Darrel Mitchell each thanked the group of supporters for the celebration and then led the crowd in “Go Tigers” cheers.
LSU will face UCLA in one national semifinal game on Saturday at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis.
