BATON ROUGE — The 19th-ranked LSU men’s tennis team is set to play a crucial SEC match Sunday when it hosts the No. 8-ranked Florida Gators at 1 p.m.
The Tigers (10-6, 3-1 SEC) are coming off a 7-0 sweep of South Carolina on Friday and Sunday’s match could loom large in deciding where they find themselves in the NCAA tournament.
“We’re extremely excited about playing Florida,” said LSU head coach Jeff Brown. “It’s going to take a good effort starting with the doubles play and through to singles.”
The Gators (9-5, 3-2 SEC) features one of the SEC’s top singles lineup, including three ranked players. LSU will look to take the early advantage and win the doubles point.
Florida is also coming off of a, 6-1, win over Arkansas that snapped a two match losing streak.
“Hopefully we’ll have a good crowd on hand so we can welcome the Gators to Baton Rouge,” said Brown. “We’re not going to be intimidated. We’re going to go out there and try to win.”
