ATLANTA — LSU freshman Julius Gloeckner posted the second-fastest 200 individual medley time in school history Thursday as the Men’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships got underway at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center.
Gloeckner entered with a seed-time of 1:48.70 and placed 33rd in the prelims with a career-best clocking of 1:48.15. The versatile freshman was .08 seconds off the school-record time of 1:48.07 achieved by Jarrod Marrs in 1998.
Gloeckner swims the 400 IM on Friday, beginning at 11 a.m. CST.
Sophomore diver Niko Dalman placed 20th in the 1-meter springboard Thursday, recording a score of 276.20. Dalman participates in the 3-meter Friday and the platform Saturday.
Defending national champion Auburn sits in first through six events with a tally of 178.50. Arizona is in second place and Arizona is third heading into Day 2.
