LAFAYETTE, La. — In just her first collegiate competition freshman Anna Lyons qualified to the NCAA Regional Championships to highlight competition for the LSU track and field team at the Louisiana Classics Saturday afternoon at Cajun Track.
Lyon, a native of Ruston, La., also secured a spot in the Lady Tigers’ record books in her inaugural appearance, placing third in the javelin competition with a toss of 151-4, a distance that ranks as the sixth-best in Lady Tiger history.
Junior Julie Bertrand also competed in the women’s javelin, finishing 12th with a throw of 104-11.
On the men’s side, senior Pat Perrien and freshman Chad Radgowski turned in a pair of top-ten finishes in the men’s javelin. Perrien placed sixth overall with a throw of 192-7, while Radgowski finished ninth with a toss of 190-6.
The Tigers also had two athletes participate in the discus throw. Sophomore Alexis Lewis finished eighth with a throw of 151-5, while sophomore Patrick Frischhertz was 14th with a distance of 138-8.
The LSU track and field team returns to action next week when they host the LSU Relays, March 23-25, at Bernie Moore Track Stadium.
