BATON ROUGE — LSU sophomore forward Glen Davis was named a second-team All-American Tuesday by Rivals.com.
Davis who averaged 18.5 points per game and 9.9 rebounds a contest, will lead the Tigers into the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Iona on Thursday in Jacksonville, Fla.
In selection Davis, Rivals.com said of Davis: “A tremendous force on offense and on the glass all season … Racked up 18 double-doubles, including 10 in SEC play … Scored in double figures in all 29 games … Led Tigers to six consecutive wins to close regular season, averaging 21 points and 11.5 boards over that stretch.”
On the first team chosen by Rivals.com were: J. J. Redick and Shelden Williams of Duke, Randy Foye of Villanova, Adam Morrison of Gonzaga and Brandon Roy of Washington.
On the second team with Davis are Leon Powe of California, P. J. Tucker of Texas, Rudy Gay of Connecticut and Allan Ray of Villanova.
