BATON ROUGE — After going 4-3 last week, with all three losses to teams ranked in this week’s Top 10, the LSU softball team remained at No. 19 in the ESPN/USA Softball poll this week.
The Tigers (16-3) topped Texas Southern in a doubleheader at home last Wednesday before going 2-3 at the Palm Springs Classic, with wins over Texas Tech and UC-Santa Barbara and losses to No. 4 UCLA, No. 5 Stanford and No. 9 Oregon State.
LSU moved up from No. 25 to No. 19 last week, where it remained this week. The Tigers have now been ranked for three consecutive weeks and 42 weeks overall in the ESPN/USA Softball poll.
Riding a 14-game home winning streak, LSU will host Southeastern Louisiana in a single game on Thursday at 6 p.m. The Tigers will then travel to Norman, Okla., to participate in the Oklahoma/ Nike Classic this weekend. LSU will take on No. 10 Oklahoma twice and Troy twice in the two-day tournament.
LSU is one of five Southeastern Conference teams ranked in the poll. Along with the Tigers, Tennessee is ranked No. 2, Alabama is No. 6, Georgia is No. 11 and Auburn is No. 20.
