BATON ROUGE — Following just one day of rest the 11th-ranked LSU gymnastics team returns to action Sunday, traveling to Shreveport, La., for a dual meet with Centenary at 2 p.m. in the Gold Dome.

The Tigers (8-6, 2-2 SEC) are coming off a second straight season-high performance as they notched a 196.575 in a loss to No. 5 Oklahoma Friday night. LSU also posted season-bests on the vault and floor and either won outright or shared each of the five individual honors.

The Tigers, who are in need of a solid road score in order to bolster their regional qualifying score and move up in the national rankings, will once again look to all-arounders April Burkholder and Kelly Phelan to pace the squad.

Burkholder has won five all-around titles in eight meets this season and is averaging a 39.375 on the year. Phelan has been hot streak as of late, posting three straight scores of 39.425 or better.

Centenary enters the meet with an even 3-3 record. The Ladies are coming off a, 195.850-188.350, loss to Auburn last Sunday at home. They have twice notched a season-high 191.100 this year and are averaging a 188.698 on the season.

LSU owns a 23-1-0 all-time series advantage over Centenary, a mark that includes a 6-1-0 record in Shreveport. The Tigers have won 21 straight meetings with the Ladies, a streak that dates back to the 1986 season.

Following the Centenary meet, LSU returns to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Fri., March 3, to host No. 4 Alabama in a dual meet at 7 p.m.
