Women’s Tennis Duo Ranked No. 37 Nationally

BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis duo of Lauren Seaman and Tiffany Tucker entered the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s doubles rankings for the first time this regular season at No. 37 it was announced Wednesday.

This ranking comes on the heels of an unblemished 5-0 start to the season for the pair, including two straight upsets over top-30 teams. They defeated then-No. 30 Blair DiSesa and Alanna Rodgers in LSU’s 4-3 win over Rice and earned the Lady Tigers’ only win of the day over then-No. 29 Sarah Foster and Anna Lubinsky in a loss to Texas A&M.

This is the first time the Lady Tigers have placed anyone in individual rankings this regular season. The same tandem listed at No. 60 in the fall and also entered the 2005 poll at No. 48 exactly a year ago.

The No. 37 ranking is the highest since Seaman, a senior from Metairie, La., also appeared with her partner Rocio Fantilli in 2004. The pair reached as high as No. 34 in the ITA rankings that year.

Seaman and Tucker, a sophomore by way of Forth Worth, Texas, are now a combined 24-12 when paired together the past two years.

The Lady Tigers dropped one spot to No. 43 in the team rankings after an off week. Heading into Wednesday’s match versus Florida State they stand at 4-1 with their one loss coming to Texas A&M.

After meeting the Seminoles on Wednesday, LSU returns home to play host to Lamar on Saturday at 11 a.m. Though the team is unranked, the Cardinals’ No. 1 doubles pair of Andrea Martinez and Tara Shelander is ranked one spot above the LSU duo at No. 36.
